In 2005, David Baszucki drew the original 'Smile' face, which featured two eyes and a V-shaped smile. This was the only face available to avatars until later revisions were introduced. The second version of the normal face, also known as 'Smile,' was released in 2008 and showcased a curved, more refined smile and eyes.

However, the 'Smile' face was previously 10 Robux, which caused many players to be upset and ask for refunds due to using their hard-earned currency to purchase it. This led to a trend where most inactive users since joining use this face as well, assuming they didn't know about the free faces or couldn't afford any.

In January 2014, a similar version of the face called 'Smile' was released and remained on sale until July 2023. The third iteration, still in use today, is a refinement of the second with a thinner mouth and eyes.

While some players prefer using faces available from the avatar shop, many others opt to keep this classic face as their go-to. Whether you're looking for realism or expression, the 'Smile' face has become an iconic part of Roblox's identity.
